Small Town Saturday Afternoon

After all that partying and Greek food, we needed a low-key day, so the next day, we headed to Thomasville to spend Saturday afternoon eating and shopping at our favorite places.  First stop was Moonspin Pizza.

Moonspin's all natural philosophy ensures that your pizza will always be fresh and delicious. Let me stop here to tell you that George took all of the pictures, so he isn't in any of the "action shots." George got his one and only picture in the mirror - proof he was there.

I did ask...

We all love Moonspin, and the kids were so happy.

After pizza, we were off to The Bookshelf, my favorite bookstore. two I'd been awaiting were released that week, and I couldn't wait to go. While I shopped, the kids played chess at the store's seating area.

I was also excited to see that my pick, This Is Where I Leave You, was on the customer recommendation shelf.

We moved on to Relish, my second favorite store,

 

and the only one where you can drink a glass of wine while you browse.

How can you go wrong with that? Some of our usual stops were skipped this time, either because of a private event (Sweet Grass Dairy Cheese Shop) or because we didn't need another sign about the south (Loli's). We made two more stops before our afternoon ended. The first was to Savannah Moon Bakery for some key lime cookies for later; the second to The Scoop to get the kids some ice cream.

In all, it was a nice, quiet trip to a small town main street that we love.  

Important October school stuff

This nine weeks, Danny volunteered for safety patrol at his school. He was so excited to join the team because, as he stated, "like father, like son." we are so proud of this young man.

Meanwhile, Megan's school paid tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness Month by creating some awesome sidewalk art.

Megan added her grandmother's name to the drawing (see "Carolyn Creamer" at the bottom?) to represent our family. I think both of these kids represent our family well, don't you?

We Love Greek Food!!!

Every year, our local Greek Orthodox church hosts a Greek food festival on the church grounds. Another of our family traditions, we try to get there early on Friday afternoon to sample the gyros (everything for me and Danny, meat and onions only for George and Megan),

Greek fries,

Spanikopita (my favorite),

and baklava (Danny's favorite).

Along with the good food, they have great music and dancing

and last, but not least, Greek wine, brandy and Ouzo!

This year, we hung out with good friends, the Brannons and the Mazeracs, and they indulged me by letting me take pics of them enjoying their selections.

The best thing about the night? Happily enjoying time with friends and family

and the view of this beautiful church on a gorgeous October evening.

October football and a Pumpkin Patch visit

October was a super-busy month in the Creamer household, so busy that George didn't get all of the pictures downloaded, and I didn't have the chance to post at all after my last post. We did get some great shots, so I'll give a brief synopsis of the events of the rest of the month in the next few posts. As I left off on the 10th, I'll pick up on the next weekend.

Saturday, October 18th, FSU played Notre Dame at home, and the energy was as high in Tallahassee as it always is during huge home games. After watching the game that night, we celebrated by going to breakfast at the University Center Club the next morning. The theme was "The Great Pumpkin," and while Halloween music piped throughout the place, we chose from one of the best buffets in town. Because the Club is at Doak Campbell Stadium, the photo opportunities were abundant. Here are just a few of the shots we got while we celebrated.

Afterwards, we made our way to the Pumpkin Patch, a yearly tradition for us since the kids were very small. This doesn't really need a lot of explanation - we were selecting pumpkins for Halloween - but lets just say that the pictures from this year showed me just how much my kids are growing up!

It seems like it was only yesterday that this was what Megan and Danny looked like:

Wow. At least Danny will still do "kid" things for a bit longer.

I love getting the silly pics - it means he's not too "cool" to make Mom happy.
