George's Birthday weekend

We started out George's birthday weekend at Disney with a Stay at Port Orleans French Quarter, a quick stop at Epcot for the Art Festival, and a Gaelic Storm concert in Orlando with the Mazeracs.

     

George is loved, and although it ended up being a painful weekend for me due to illness, I still enjoyed being with him.

While I can't believe it is real, my boy did actually turn 11, and we celebrated all weekend with special lunches and dinners. His favorite part? The fact that Zachary came in town for his birthday. That night, Danny got to hang with his best bud, Chase, Zachary, Megan, and of course, me and George. After a dinner of his favorite fast food, Arby's, we came home to a dessert of mustache cookie cake, 

and he opened presents. 

Meanwhile, George and Zachary tirelessly worked to put together his present, a new basketball goal!

Saturday, we attended Megan's orchestra concert (we had also attended it on that Thursday night). We enjoyed ourselves, and George got some of the best concert pics he's ever gotten. 

Sunday, my book club had its first cookie swap, for which I made my standard, pumpkin cookies. 

After the book club meeting, I processed all of the apple infused bourbon and vanilla extract to be given as Christmas gifts. 

 

It was busy weekend, but an awesome one, thanks to my awesome family. Happy 11th, Danny!

Summer has officially begun!

Summer in the Creamer household has officially begun. The first week was a week of leisure for the kids. Danny went to a birthday party at Skateworld on the 1st,

officially partying on the first day of June. Then they went swimming, and Danny, who was still basking in the glow of this Memorial Day 2nd place finish,

got to bring his friend Chase along.

When he wasn't racing Chase or diving for items at the bottom of the pool, he was showing off his muscles.

Then the kids got to stay the night at their grandparents' house, and we missed them so much. Here they are arriving home, having had a wonderful time.

Then, over the weekend, we worked in the yard and did some gardening. Our hydrangeas are in full bloom, and I had to pick some of these beautiful blooms for the house.

After a day of hard work, George and I had a date night at the Country Club, where they were having a Cuban-themed party by the pool.

Then we made it out to Bradfordville Blues Club to see Victor Wainright and the Wild Roots.

The band was terrific, and it was an awesome night. I don't have video of the performances, but here's a clip of one of his performances. If he's in your area, I highly recommend seeing him live.

So far, June has been a blast for us. We hope you're enjoying your summer as much as we are!

Megan's Winter Concert

December 13th was Megan's winter orchestra concert. She is in Orchestra II on her second year playing the cello. She has really improved since last year, and we were so proud to hear her play. George got a few great pics from that night.

 

I am so impressed with her determination to learn an instrument she loves. Beautiful playing, Megan! 

Danny's Disney Trip, Day 2

Day 2 of the trip was spent at Epcot.

We started out in Innoventions and the Living Seas, and headed back to the World Showcase just as it opened. We made our way through Canada,

Great Britain (where we usually spend a lot of time, but as Megan was kicked out of line to see Mary Poppins, the visit here was brief - more on that later), and then moving past France, went on to Morocco.

Here we ate a light snack at the Tangerine Cafe,

and boy was the baklava tasty! Danny has a new favorite dessert. We moved on to Japan

where we shopped a bit and were entertained by the drums.

Next, we stopped at the American pavilion for a fife and drum show,

and then went to Italy for a few glasses of wine and a traditional picture with Poseidon.

Moving quickly now, as we had early dinner reservations, we sped through Germany,

China, 

and Norway, where got to ride one ride before entering Mexico for dinner. Our reservations were at La Hacienda de San Angel,

a new restaurant outside of the original Aztec pyramid that houses the Mexican experience.  This was truly one of the best Mexican meals I have ever had. Beef shank,

Mexican grill

and a flight of tequila (for George)

made this meal very memorable, but the highlight was the corn ice cream served with buttered popcorn on top. To Die For. Our waitress, Marigel, was awesome as she served Danny a dessert of churros with a candle in it. She saved the day, almost literally. The dinner was part of a Candlelight Processional package, and after eating we headed back to the American Pavilion and waited for the show to start.

If you've never seen it, Disney has trumpeters

and an orchestra, a huge choir,

and a celebrity who reads the Christmas story while they sing carols and end with Handel's Messiah Hallelujah chorus. It was breathtaking, and we had the pleasure of seeing and hearing Geena Davis read the Christmas story.

By the end of the night, we were pooped and headed back to call it a night.
