A birthday party, a baby bird, and a haircut

We had a busy weekend! George and I had a date on Saturday (Thanks Mom and Dad!) and saw The Dark Knight. Oh my goodness, what a good movie. We loved it! Then, on Sunday, our nieces, Savannah and Paige, had a birthday party. It looks like Stephen was the life of the party!

George also got only half of Zachary's face,
but it works. After several power outages in the area, we finally got a very little bit of sleep Sunday night. Monday after work, we decided to give Zachary and Danny the haircut promised on Sunday, but George got sidetracked with a baby bird in the yard. Isn't it a great shot?
After dinner, we trimmed Zachary's hair (I'll spare him the embarrassment of showing him sitting on a stool in the shower with the cape on - you can imagine). Danny, however, posed the whole time. What a Ham!

Summer memories

I was looking for some new pictures, and I came across this one. It made me think, "My how they've changed." This was taken at the Jacksonville Zoo in June of 2004. I can't believe how much these children have changed. Zachary is a young man, Megan grows more every day, and Danny is in VPK this year. I feel old! But , I can always say that I'm not as old as my wonderful husband!

Megan's Summer Camp

Megan just finished her week at Black's Horses and Ponies summer camp. Her horse was named Luckey and he was so sweet. Megan learned all about grooming and the parts of the horse in her horsemanship class, and she learned to trot. She had so much fun! She can't wait till next summer when she wants 2 weeks of camp$$$! I just had to share some of the pics as I was so proud of her.

4th of July Weekend

Friday -

Well, we tried Havana, but no luck. All of the blueberries were gone. By the time we got home, I had the beginnings of a migraine and slept most of the day. George worked the Summerbrooke fireworks, and we went to be with him on the golf course. The fireworks there are small, but they are so close it feels like they're right on top of you. Danny was a little scared. They were pretty, and Megan and Zachary had a blast. I spent most of the time with my fingers in my ears and my eyes partially closed. The 4th of July is not a good time to have a migraine.

Saturday -

Again, slept most of the day when I wasn't reading my book (I finished Like Water for Chocolate). The kids watched the Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family, and we had a quiet day. George worked for a couple of hours, and he slept also.

Sunday -

I was still not feeling too hot, but I got up and made breakfast. We went to Walmart and did grocery shopping and bought some mulch (George loaded it in the middle of the storm.) We also replaced our kitchen rugs (as if mulch isn't exciting enough!). I did manage to get ouside after the rain stopped and get some decent pics. In all, it was a much-needed, very quiet weekend.

Blueberry picking

On Sunday morning, we got up really early and went to Blueberry Springs in Wacissa. George got some good shots early on, but the experience was miserable. It was incredibly hot, the farmer showed his true colors, and all but two trees that we tried were very sour. I feel bad for people buying these rabbiteyes in the stores because the commercial bushes were the most sour. We only picked a gallon, and we're trying Havana next weekend. Hopefully we'll have better luck on the late-bloomers there. Still, the kids love the experience, and we love exposing them to the fresh produce you find on farms. You can't beat the flavor (most of the time).
