A Mother's View

My teens hanging out in Danny's room and talking with Zac. George took this picture, and something about this scene strikes me as so awesome this Mother's Day.

An Educational Field Trip and a Happy Mom's Day

Mother's Day weekend, we decided to take a trip to WDW for an educational field trip. Danny's class was going to Epcot, and we gave him the choice of Epcot with hundreds of 4th graders or a weekend at Animal Kingdom. He chose Animal Kingdom with the family (see...I knew he was truly intelligent), and we headed down on Friday of Mother's Day weekend. We checked in at Animal Kingdom Lodge

on Friday and spent the evening enjoying the resort and the wildlife outside our back door.

The weather was beautiful, and we really enjoyed an afternoon swim, dinner at Boma, movies by the pool, and night vision animal watching. The next day, after an African-inspired breakfast, we made our way to Animal Kingdom park. We skipped most of the rides and opted to learn about the animals. The kids enjoyed Rafiki's conservation center, and we all loved Kilimanjaro Safaris. We saw giraffes,

rhinos,

elephants,

and zebras up close...

really close.

The kids went around to all of the explorer badge stops and took the time to learn about each animal or insect. George got some great shots of the birds

and the monkeys.

Oh yeah, and he got some great shots of our monkeys, too!

We all has a great weekend, and after a Sunday at Downtown Disney and lunch at Raglan Road, we made it back home for the rest of Mother's Day. Thank you, George,

for an awesome weekend and an awesome Mom's Day!

Mother's Day, again!

Today, Zachary took me to lunch at El Jalisco for Mother's Day, as he spent yesterday with his mom. We had a great time, and he surprised me with some very beautiful roses!

I could not ask for a better stepson! Zac, I love you very much!

Happy Mother's Day!

Our Mother's Day started yesterday after Danny's belt test when we went to George's parents' house to visit with Mom Creamer. After she opened cards and received her plants, Danny showed off his karate moves from the morning. While Megan entertained herself by drawing pictures,

Danny also treated us all to his amazing burp-on-demand skills.

I am so proud! After our visit and dinner, we headed home for an early night's sleep.
For my Mother's Day, George, Megan and Danny surprised me with some gorgeous roses.

They gave me cards and the kids each gave me a hallmark blooming message rose -

yellow from Megan,

and pink from Danny. Danny also gave me some drawer sachets that he made himself - aren't they pretty?

Then, my hunk of a husband made me a full breakfast of eggs, bacon, garlic hashbrowns, and croissants.

Oh, how I love my man, especially when he cooks for me! After breakfast, we went to church, and then afterward my family indulged my love of old movies and 40's jazz (the Gershwin songbook) by watching An American in Paris with me.

I even got a foot rub during it! The day ended with an old fashioned barbecue dinner and then champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert during our Sunday night shows. It was a wonderful day, and we wish all of the mothers we know a very Happy Mother's Day!
