Sunday Brunch

Had Sunday Brunch with the Creamer Clan this morning at Paisley Cafe. I love this place and i love these people.

Oh, and I love Ratatouille. 

Anniversary lunch/Eclipse lunch

We went to lunch today for our anniversary, and we took Megan with us because the eclipse happens to be today too (it's educational)! We didn't get the full eclipse, but we got enough to see the sliver through the eclipse glasses. It was a great experience, and we are amazed at how bright our little star really is.

  

  

Congratulations to our Junior Black Belt!

George and I are so proud of our boy! After four years of hard work, Danny received his Jr. black belt today. A big thank you to all of his senseis and Shannon at AKS for their hard work and encouragement.

Today, I am thankful

In this season of thanks, I am so aware of my blessings in this life.

We love Halloween, and our house is all decked out.



My "little" ones, Danny the creepy cat and Megan the Victorian lady of death, are all ready for parties, haunted houses, and a bit of trick or treating.

It's all about fall, y'all!

Fall in South Georgia, butterflies and cotton fields. Beautiful!

More from Danny's Birthday weekend

While I can't believe it is real, my boy did actually turn 11, and we celebrated all weekend with special lunches and dinners. His favorite part? The fact that Zachary came in town for his birthday. That night, Danny got to hang with his best bud, Chase, Zachary, Megan, and of course, me and George. After a dinner of his favorite fast food, Arby's, we came home to a dessert of mustache cookie cake, 

and he opened presents. 

Meanwhile, George and Zachary tirelessly worked to put together his present, a new basketball goal!

Saturday, we attended Megan's orchestra concert (we had also attended it on that Thursday night). We enjoyed ourselves, and George got some of the best concert pics he's ever gotten. 

Sunday, my book club had its first cookie swap, for which I made my standard, pumpkin cookies. 

After the book club meeting, I processed all of the apple infused bourbon and vanilla extract to be given as Christmas gifts. 

 

It was busy weekend, but an awesome one, thanks to my awesome family. Happy 11th, Danny!

Another "private" class at Aprons

The night before Thanksgiving, George and I went to Aprons cooking school for date night, and again we were by ourselves in the class.

It was a demonstration class, and the food was absolutely delicious. The four-course meal started with smoked squash soup with crispy pancetta.

Then came the pastrami cured duck breast served with cornichons and whole grain mustard on toast points.

The main course was pork t-bone with a chestnut, apple, and pancetta hash.

Last, but not least, cinnamon apple pie with a hot toddy.

This was probably one of the best dinners we've had at Aprons, and I can't imagine why others aren't signing up for these amazing nights. One thing is for sure, we know how to pick them.

Danny's Latest Achievement

Last Saturday, Danny tested for and received his brown belt in Kenpo Karate. This is a huge accomplishment for him, as last year we struggled to get him to show up to Karate practices after the death of his friend and classmate, Trent. The last year has been a time for emotional growth for Danny, and we're all so proud of him.  I went to the test with him, and got some good shots of him

showing off his forms

and sparring.

After the demonstration, his senseis gave the new belts out,

and then took pictures with all of the recipients.

Danny was awesome! Unfortunately, George had to work, and Megan had the flu, so he and I went to Sweet Frog to celebrate with some frozen yogurt.

North Florida Fair Fun

The fair has come and gone, but not without the Creamers enjoying it.

Sunday before last, we headed down to the fairgrounds for some of that awesome fair food and entertainment. We had gyros,

Sonny's redneck eggrolls,

pretzels from the Amish Doughnut tent,

corndogs,

ice cream,

and last but not least, George's must-have funnel cakes.

Not all at the same time, of course, but we had a taste of everything over the course of 5 or so hours. We're not much on fair rides, so we spent time at the exhibits

and with the animals (including this mama goat who fell in love with me almost immediately),

and we even caught a few shows.

The Frisbee Dog show was especially fun.

Danny's favorite was Easy Rider, a rescue dog with three good legs who blows everyone away with his skill.

He even got a "pawprint" frisbee and a picture with Easy Rider.

As the sun was setting, George coerced (read as forced) us all to ride the "Big Wheel" with him so he could get some good aerial photos of the fair.

I will say, they're good photos, but my love for the "Big Wheel" has not grown at all, and I cringe even now when I think about having to ride it again next year. We left with good memories,

cotton candy,

kettle korn,

and a caramel apple for me.

In all it was a great day, and I can't wait until next fair season (except for the "Big Wheel," of course).
