Finally, some cooler weather...

Just to let you know that we haven't fallen off the face of the planet, I am going to give a general update. Zachary has been driving our van regularly for the last few days, and I will have to say he's doing pretty well. Megan recently became hooked on Dr. Who (yes we screen for the scary and inappropriate ones), and put this picture on her wall. I hope it doesn't detract from her studies!

Danny is getting some new furniture in his room, so George and I have been cleaning out (me) and putting together (George) various parts of Danny's room. We, however, have both hurt ourselves over the last couple of weeks, so we are a sad-looking couple at the end of the day. Between my limping and his back-holding, I don't know which of us looks worse. I know Danny will appreciate all of the hard work we're doing for him (not!).
Last Friday, we went to the fall festival at Megan and Danny's school, and they had a great time. Megan and Zachary's friend, Clarence, spent the entire fall festival in the cake walk line, and she finally won on the next to last round. That was an expensive cake, let me tell you! Zachary volunteered at the snow cone machine for me, and other than exploding flavor syrup and an intricately dyed right hand, he had few mishaps. Danny decided that friends are more important than his mom (aka "chopped liver") and spent the whole time trying to convince me to leave him with his friends for the rest of the evening. Sure, that's going to happen.
I can't possibly tell everything that we've done because the list would be endless. It seems like October exploded with engagements, illnesses, and general plans. I hope November is a little more calm.

Our favorite cookbook

Lately, we've been experimenting with the children's cookbook from Disney's Ratatouille. I must say that this is not necessarily a children's cookbook, it just has simple recipes that a child could follow. The flavors are mature, and we cook something from it once a week. Our favorites? Ooh la la French Toast, Croque Monsieur, and Ratatouille (I added fresh lavendar along with the basil, and it gave a very "herbs de provence" flavor - very fitting). Definitely worth the money we spent.

Danny lost his first tooth!

Actually, Danny pulled and twisted his first tooth out tonight as Megan and I stood and watched. He was so excited that he let out his "Oh yeah, Baby" immediately and pumped his arm. Tough guy, just like his daddy. He can't wait to tell all of his friends.

The First Day of School 2009

Yesterday was the first day of school and Danny's first day of Kindergarten. They look so excited to go, don't they? George and I are so excited for him! It seems like only yesterday that Megan was starting her first day of Kindergarten (see below), and now she's all grown up! (Well, almost, she started 4th grade.)

Zachary started the 11th grade, and even though we don't have any pictures of him (he wasn't with us yesterday morning) we're proud of him, too!

Happy Anniversary, George! I Love You So Much!

Today is our 10th wedding anniversary, and I am continually amazed at how much I love my husband. I have heard over the years how little support our marriage had and how many people were actively betting against us (including some extremely close to us), and I have to wonder,"Did all that negative energy make us closer?" Whatever it was, we now have one of the best marriages I have ever seen, and we are truly best friends. We have a very happy family, and we are truly blessed with health, careers, and wonderful children. I only hope that our friends and family are as happy and lucky as we are!
Last weekend we went to Walt Disney World to celebrate, staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter, just like our honeymoon. The stay was so relaxing and fun, it was really hard to come back, except that we missed the kids terribly. The candle in the picture is one of the candles we searched for on our honeymoon and finally found at the Contemporary. It still looks great, huh?
After I download the other pictures, I'll post more.
