The last of February...a trip to Snow Mountain, Day 1

So, remember when I said I'd post about our trip later? Well, it turned out to be much later, as I've been so busy, it's been hard to know whether to scratch my nose or...what, TMI? Well, anyway, I'm finally going to close out February with a couple of posts about our trip to Stone Mountain, Georgia...or "Snow Mountain" as they like to call it in winter. George and Megan celebrated their birthdays together this year by asking for a trip to Snow Mountain in early February. As I had to reserve the dates far before Christmas, the anticipation was killing us up until the day we left (the 8th). Our first night there (we stayed at the Marriot Evergreen Resort,

and I highly recommend this resort for a very relaxing stay), we ate dinner at the hotel restaurant's seafood buffet. The food was excellent, so good in fact that the kids had to take pictures.

Looks delicious doesn't it? After eating, the kids went for a swim in the heated indoor pool. It was an awesome first day of an aweome weekend!

Fun field trip with Paw paw

In February, Danny's school took the third graders to the Jacksonville Zoo. Paw paw met him there and had fun all day with my boy and his buds. Danny had an "awesome" time, and still hasn't stopped talking about it! Here are some shots from the day, including one of "Steve," his new stuffed snake.

Thanks, Paw paw! I had a blast!

Happy Birthday, George!

The 19th was George's 43rd birthday, and while I was evidently a slacker about bringing my camera to the birthday dinners (George's was at Longhorn), I did manage to get this shot of the treats I made him for his birthday.

I even spelled out Happy B-Day in red hots - his favorite rice krispie treat combo! Honey, I love you so much, and I hope your birthday (especially that Leatherman tool) was all you dreamed it would be! 43 is going to be a great year, I can tell already.

Happy Birthday Megan!

This year, instead of having a birthday party, Megan chose to go on a trip for her 13th birthday. She and George celebrated together this year at Stone Mountain in Georgia (you'll see those pics in a later post). On her actual birthday weekend (the 24th was her birthday), she and I had a mother/daughter dinner at Chick-Fil-A, where she got her face painted,

and then went to the bookstore. Not exciting, but totally us! The next day, the family took Megan and her friend Hailey to dinner at Carrabba's, and while I forgot my camera, I did manage to get a picture of her big gift,

a grown-up suitcase, and I got a picture of her in her new scratch-n-sniff Reese's shirt and her birthday scarf.

Isn't she the most beautiful 13 year old you've ever seen? I may be prejudiced because I'm her mom, but she is definitely a beauty. Happy Birthday, Megan!!! I hope you got all you wished for and that you have a fantastic year!

Winter basketball is over...

Danny's Upward season lasted through the third week in February, and he had a great time playing this year. His coach definitely knew how to motivate 3rd grade boys (and a few younger ones). Here are some highlights from the last game.

Danny thought the season was too short, but I for one am glad my life is back to semi-normal. I still can't sleep in on a Saturday morning because of karate, but at least the hectic season is over.
